Gudi Padwa, also known as Navratri, is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Maharashtra to mark the beginning of the Hindu New Year. This year, it will be observed on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. This festival is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month and is considered to be one of the most auspicious days for Hindu families. People clean their homes, decorate them with flowers and rangolis, and prepare delicious sweets to celebrate the occasion. The day is also marked by feasting, praying, and exchanging greetings and gifts with family and friends. A ceremonial Gudi, which is a flag made of silk cloth and a bamboo pole, is hoisted outside homes to ward off evil and bring good luck. Navratri, which is a 9-day festival, is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm and is an important part of the Hindu cultural heritage.
