Sankashti Chaturthi, also known as Sankatahara Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival that falls on the fourth day of the waxing moon period (Shukla Paksha) in the Hindu calendar month of Magha. This year, it will be observed on Friday, March 10, 2023. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Hindu deity of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. On this day, Hindus observe fasts and perform prayers and rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. In some parts of India, people decorate and install Lord Ganesha’s idol in their homes and perform Puja rituals. Sankashti Chaturthi is believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and success, and to remove obstacles and difficulties in one’s life. The festival is widely celebrated by Hindus across India, especially in the western and southern regions of the country.
